New Year Greetings From my-cool-sms
my-cool-sms would like to wish you a Happy New Year; I hope that that 2009 will be a great year for all of us!
We know some of you are really upset that we have stopped the free SMS service that we were offering for past few months. So far we were supporting this service through the Google Advertisement revenue but with growing traffic we are not able to support the free SMS anymore.
I would like to thank those who used this service and provided us with the feedback as it helped us extending our reach to various mobile networks across numerous countries - including the most remote regions of the world.
We are still trying to get back the free SMS service; it might take a while before we re-start this free service.
Starting 2009 we have launched the paid service, where the user can register and buy a SMS package. We have tried our best to keep the price as low as possible and my-cool-sms is probably offering the best rates on the internet.
Paid users will be allowed to send their own phone number as sender ID and will also be provided the history of delivery report.
Some other features that we are working on are Address Book and Sending SMS to multiple recipients (Party Invites etc).
I would like to welcome you all to use my-cool-sms and also if you have some feature request or feed back, please feel free to contact us.
Cheers!!!

my-cool-sms announces the Unicode SMS support
Anyway this post is not to discuss our performance for first month but at the moment we have something more important to announce; launch of Unicode SMS support.
So far we were just supporting GSM 160 characters, but we have received so many requests for different language SMS support that we could just not ignore it and no wonder; most of these requests came from Far East Asian and European countries.
So, here we would like to announce that my-cool-sms can send Unicode SMS support as long as receiver’s cell phone can support/ read those characters. So, no matter if you want to you send SMS in Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Thai etc. we will be able to support your messages.
GSM 160 characters and Unicode 70 characters
There are two kinds of SMS that can be sent over internet; GSM 160 characters and Unicode 70 characters.
Standard SMS can contain 160 characters. However, the characters typed must be part of the so-called 7-bit default alphabet as specified by GSM 3.38.
However Unicode contains 70 characters but it can support even those characters not part of 7-bit default alphabet as specified by GSM 3.38. Unicode supports all characters that exist in the world. This implies that through Unicode, you can send SMS in all languages as long as receiver’s cell phone is able to read those characters.
So if you send a Mandarin message to a cell phone in Taiwan it should be able to read that but if you send the similar message to a German cell phone, it might not be able to display Chinese Unicode SMS.
Another unique feature of my-cool-sms is, while you types we the message my-cool-sms will be able to recognize if it is GSM 160 Character message or a Unicode 70 Characters message and will set up the user interface accordingly. So for example if you enter a Hindi or Chinese character, my-cool-sms will automatically set the number of chars to 70 and doesn’t requires you do those setting manually.
All the credit for this new feature goes to the users of my-cool-sms; it only because of your feedback we realized the importance of Unicode 70 Characters and were able to implement this feature. We hope to get similar feed back in future so that we can keep improving my-cool-sms.
Feel free to contact us with your feed-back and feature requests at info@my-cool-sms.com; my-cool-sms@gmail.com
Cheers!!!
